Santa Barbara will again be well represented at the AYSO Central California Sectional Championships in March, with eight local teams advancing from the Area 10-W Regional Championships in Camarillo.

Alvaro Cardenas led the Santa Barbara Galaxy U12 boys team to a 4-0 win over another local team to take the 1st Place Title in the tournament. Alvaro scored 2 of the 4 goals in his final game with the Galaxy. Sadly he will be returning to Spain with his family in late February. The team went 8-1 for the entire tournament, which started in early January and finished last Saturday.

Other team members include Aiden Douglas, Joshua Acosta, Caleb Wilcox, Matthew Pigatti, Junior Manzo, Nathan Vandenberg, Levi Sheffey, Matthew Hislop, Cade McLean, Nico Martinez and Sebastian Rodriguez. The team is coached by Dave Wilcox, Dan Hislop and Paul McLean.

Coach Wilcox had this to say about the team, ?It was amazing to watch our boys go out and pass the ball so well. Passing was key to our victories. These boys have only played together for a little over a month but are communicating and playing like they’ve been together for years. Our defense has been stellar and we ended with our last two games being shut outs.”
