Jack Gregson hit a game-tying single in the seventh inning, but Bishop Diego gave up a run in the eighth and dropped a 7-6 decision to Channel Islands in a game in the Royal Invitational baseball tournament on Tuesday.
Gregson had a big day, going 2-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base and three RBIs.
The Cardinals scored five runs in the first two innings, but some defensive lapses enabled Channel Islands to come back.
Nolan Tooley hit a two-run triple and Scott Mandrell scored three runs, stole two bases and drew two walks.
Bishop (0-2) continues tournament play on Friday at Malibu.
