Chad Lampe of Dos Pueblos stands at the top of the podium after winning the 120-pound weight class title at the Nogales Super Championships.

Dos Pueblos wrestler Chad Lampe captured his third tournament title of the season, beating Moorpark’s Richie Vallancourt in the 120-pound weight class final at the Nogales Super Championships on Saturday.

Dos Pueblos had four other place finishers and took eighth out of 43 teams in the two-day competition.

Lampe, who earlier won the 126-pound title at the Lemoore Bash and the Jackrabbit Invitational, won a 3-1 decision over Vallancourt, a CIF State Meet qualifier last year. Lampe also beat him last season.

“He wrestled a strategically smart match,” DP coach Anthony Califano said of Lampe. “It’s a great victory for Chad.”

Sophomore Cameron Cox bounced back from a tough semifinal loss and took third place at 113 pounds.

Nico Sorenson placed fifth at 120 pounds, Jake Uyesaka finished sixth an 153 pounds and Andrew Garcia nabbed seventh place at 182 pounds.

The Chargers return to the mat on Tuesday, Jan 15 for a Channel League dual meet against San Marcos.
