WRS: Dos Pueblos wrestlers take down Royals

Dos Pueblos won seven bouts and got forfeit wins in four others to post a 53-14 dual-meet win over San Marcos in a Channel League wrestling match on Tuesday.

In the closest bout of the night, Charles Giroux of San Marcos was awarded a two-point reversal in the last second and edged DP’s Jeff Uyesaka 5-4.

San Marcos also got pins from Christian Garcia at 220 pounds and Frank Carmona at 132 pounds.

“It was a good night for us,” San Marcos coach Tony Becerra said. “We’re a young team and we’re working through our stuff.”

Wynter Triplett (106 pounds), Nico Sorenson (126) and Andy Garcia (182) recorded pins for Dos Pueblos. Cameron Cox scored a 22-5 technical fall at 120 pounds, Esteban Flores posted a 7-3 victory at 113, Eden Martinez won 17-6 at 145 and Ivan Govea took a 6-2 decision at 285 pounds for the other Charger victories.
