Carpinteria goalie Vanessa Vega stopped 16 shots, but the Warriors’ offense couldn’t produce enough goals and Malibu took advantage for a 6-4 win in a Tri-Valley League game.
“Our goalie had a tremendous day in the cage, but we were unable to match that effort offensively today,” said Carpinteria coach Bryan Swarm.
The teams were tied 3-3 going into the fourth period. Malibu capitalized on a couple of untimely ejections by the Warriors and that proved to be the difference in the game.
Hope Grant scored two goals to lead Carpinteria (6-7, 1-1). Linda Brown had three goals for Malibu.
