San Marcos won the third-place game at the Bonita Girls Water Polo Tournament, beating the host Bearcats 8-4 on Saturday.
Halie Johnson scored four goals and drew three ejections, and Riley Heiduk added three goals.
Goalie Jenna Phreaner turned in a strong performance with 15 saves.
The Royals defeated Claremont (9-3), Charter Oak (15-4) and Redlands East Valley (10-3) to advance to the semifinals.
In the semis, San Marcos lost a 9-8 overtime decision to Riverside Poly. Phreaner fought through an illness and had 16 saves and two steals. Offensively, Heiduk scored three goals, while Megan Bergthold and Johnson each added two.
