Santa Barbara High spread the scoring around in a 17-2 Channel League girls water polo win over Ventura on Tuesday.
Kelsey O’Brien poured in five goals in five minutes of play in the field, leading 10 different goal scorers for the Dons (8-4, 3-0).
The UCLA-bound O’Brien then played goalie over the next two periods and made seven saves.
Jessica Gaffney was a defensive demon, making six steals to go along with three assists. Claire Bergthold “was great all over the pool,” said Santa Barbara coach Mark Walsh. She shut down Ventura’s top scorer while leading the team in assists and drawn ejections.
The Dons tune up for their weekend Tournament of Champions with a non-league game against Montebello on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
