Dos Pueblos couldn’t make up a two-goal deficit and dropped a 2-1 boys soccer game to Buena in the Channel League opener on Tuesday.
All the scoring occurred in the first half. Buena took advantage of a DP turnover deep in its end and scored for a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. The Bulldogs made it 2-0 when a player beat a defender down the sideline, cut inside and shot past the goalkeeper.
Dos Pueblos got a goal back in the 34th minute. Forbes Bainou collected a rebound off the goalkeeper and scored.
The Chargers created chances in the second half, but could get the equalizer.
DP (6-7-1 and 0-1) plays crosstown rival San Marcos on Thursday.
