BBK: Bench helps keep Dons steady

Isaiah Tapia came off the bench to lead Santa Barbara High past Buena 68-57 in Wednesday’s Channel League boys basketball game.

Danny Tatnall led all scorers with 21 points.

Santa Barbara’s Emilio Gonzalez sat out serving the second game of a school-imposed suspension.

“It was great having a few other guys step up and give us good minutes with Emilio out. We are a deep team with a lot if guys that can play,” said Dons assistant coach Andy Gil.

The Dons came out with a strong first quarter and led 23-12 after the first eight minutes. The two teams alternated winning quarters after that.

The Dons are now 18-4 overall and 7-3 in Channel League play with two games to go. Both are next week, with San Marcos on Tuesday and Dos Pueblos on Thursday.
