Genaro Hurtado’s header off a Angel Varela corner kick gave Carpinteria the only goal it needed to beat Pacifica, 1-0, in the Warriors’ final match of 2012 on Thursday.
“We were looking to end the year on a positive note, and start the new year on the right foot,” said Carpinteria coach Leon Quintero.
Hurtado scored in the 65th minute, and the Warriors defense held firm against Pacifica’s several rushes on goal.
Carpinteria goes into the winter break with a 3-1-2 record.
