Dos Pueblos’ furious rally against No. 1 Corona del Mar came up just a tad short on Friday as the Sea Queens held on for an 11-10 victory in the Chargers’ pool.
Corona del Mar gained a 9-3 advantage by halftime but the Chargers were able to rally in the second half of their season-opening game.
Jamie Neushul scored four of her team-high six goals in the second half. Shannon Cleary did her part helping the Chargers get back in the game with solid defending at 2 meters and three goals scored.
Dos Pueblos had possession in the final minute trailing 11-10 but could not get a great look.
“I was proud of the girls for fighting back and not giving up in the second half,” said Chargers head coach Chris Parrish.
The Chargers, ranked No. 7 in Division 1, play again on Saturday hosting No. 2 Foothill.
