Ridenour’s 28 leads Royals past Rio Mesa

Bryce Ridenour scored 28 points, and the San Marcos boys basketball team won its second straight game, beating Rio Mesa 71-54 on the final day of the Simi Valley Tournament on Saturday.

“Bryce blew up tonight,” coach Dave Odell said. “He was attacking the basket and hitting threes.”

Ridenour made 11 of 15 shots, as the Royals evened their record to 2-2.

Kevin Hempy had a solid game with 19 points and six rebounds and Jake Wheelock added 15 points.

Odell praised Christian Widmer for his solid defensive play against the Rio Mesa point guard and overall hustle.

Uriel Hurtado was named to the all-tournament team.
