San Marcos fell behind 8-1 in the first period and dropped an 18-8 girls water polo decision to Laguna Beach on Friday.
Despite the lopsided loss, San Marcos coach Chuckie Roth said there was something positive to be taken from the game.
“In light of the loss, it was a great experience for our team’s growth,” he said “Senior Hannah Koper had two goals and three steals and more importantly displayed great leadership for our young team.”
Roth said Halie Johnson played her best game of the season. “She created numerous advantages which resulted in great offensive opportunities for our team.
Roth also cited goalkeeper Kelly Purling, who’s been filling in for the injured Jenna Phreaner.
San Marcos (3-8) returns to action on Dec. 31 for its alumni game.
