San Marcos’ girls water polo team lost two tough matches on Saturday to Bonita and Edison.
The Royals fell to Edison 10-7 in the earlier game before getting beat 14-13 in overtime by Bonita.
San Marcos had a shot to win each match. Against Edison, the Royals led by one entering the fourth quarter.
Against Bonita, the Royals rallied to force sudden death overtime. Freshman Hailey Gellert’s seven goals and sophomore Riley Heiduk’s inspired play allowed the Royals to rally from a 9-4 deficit in the third quarter to force the overtime.
San Marcos’ next game is Friday at Laguna Beach.
