SBCC’s Skjonsby wraps up State Championship in 12th

Charlotte Skjonsby fired a 79 on Tuesday to finish 12th in the Women’s Golf State Championship at Temecula Creek Inn. The freshman from SBCC had a two-day total of 164.

“Charlotte was solid today with some birdies and a number of good putts,” said coach Chuck Melendez, who served as her caddy. “Her folks were here, her sister was here and there was a good-sized gallery. It was a great experience.”

Melendez noted it was the final SBCC appearance for Skjonsby, who will transfer to Pepperdine next year.

Taylor Crandall of Palomar shot a 2-under 70 and took medalist honors with a 148, beating Kate Cho (75-76) of Irvine Valley by three shots.

Irvine Valley shot 310 and won its second state title in three years with a 36-hole total of 628. Glendale was a distant second at 660.
