Local bragging rights on line in USC-Notre Game

There is a lot riding on Saturday’s college football game between top-ranked Notre Dame and USC at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The undefeated Fighting Irish are looking to stay on top in the BCS Standings and earn a spot in the BCS National Championship game.

The Trojans (7-4) would love to play spoiler and end the regular season on a positive note.

There’s also a matter of bragging rights between two childhood friends from Santa Barbara.

Buddies Scott Grimes and Bryson Lloyd will be on opposite sidelines in the national televised game. Grimes, an all-league golfer at Bishop Diego in 2010, is a student manager for Notre Dame and assists the defensive coaches in the press box. Lloyd, a star tight end for the Santa Barbara High football team in 2008, is a senior long-snapper for the Trojans.

The two played flag football together and attended Marymount School. They’ve known each other since the age of 4.

Saturday’s game is at 5 p.m., and it will be televised on Channel 3.
