Jelan Hutton scored Santa Barbara High’s first goal of the season and Alec Larson assisted on two second-half goals in the Dons’ 3-0 non-league victory over visiting Agoura on Tuesday.

Hutton converted a free kick from 25 yards out in the first half before Larson fed Pepe Barron and Jason Ildefonso for quick back-to-back goals late in the game.

It was Santa Barbara High’s fifth victory in six years in its season opener.

“It went well. Compared to our scrimmage last week, we just settled down a lot quicker,” said Hutton, a senior captain. “We had better spacing in the midfield and we connected really well.”

Dons goalie Elvis Mancilla posted the shutout and kept the clean sheet intact with a leaping save on an Agoura free kick in the final minutes.

Larson, an attacking forward, finished with two assists and created opportunities for the Dons in both halves.

“I thought both balls he played (that led to goals) were brilliant,” credited Dons head coach Todd Heil.

Santa Barbara High is off for the rest of this week and hosts Moorpark in its next contest next Tuesday.
