Cardinals best fellow undefeated Mission Prep

BJ Murillo and Anthony Carter connected for the winning touchdown in Friday’s clash between undefeated teams in San Luis Obispo, as Bishop Diego came away with the 16-13 victory over Mission Prep.

Anthony Carter found Murillo on a 1-yard pass play late in the fourth quarter to push the Cardinals ahead. Justin Brosnan’s 33-yard catch from Nunzio Bilotti just before helped set up the winning touchdown.

The Cardinals defense produced seven sacks on the night, including three from Brosnan and two from Walter Hernandez.

Bishop held Mission Prep, which plays in independent schedule and came into the game with a 9-0 record, to a season low in points.

Murillo totaled 33 yards rushing and 28 yards receiving in the game. Carter’s 75 yards rushing was a team-high.

The undefeated Tri-Valley League champions, ranked No. 1 in the Northwest Division, will learn their opening round CIF matchup on Sunday.
