SBCC’s tackling machine gets Defensive Player of Week award

Linebacker Morgan Nevin has been named American Pacific Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

The 6-foot, 222-pound freshman from Truckee had 15 tackles, including eight solo, in Friday’s 20-13 loss to Antelope Valley in a first-place showdown. He also had a sack and two tackles for loss.

Nevin has 70 tackles in six games and his 11.7 average is No. 1 in Southern California.

The Marauders were the No. 2 scoring team in Southern Cal but the Vaquero defense held them to less than half of their 43.4 average.

Lineman Stephen Brooks added 13 tackles and safety Colin Christian had 12.
