Santa Barbara County Super Seven Football Rankings

Presidio Sports will release the Santa Barbara County Super Seven for prep football each Monday throughout the fall season. It is a way for you to see how our County teams stack up against each other and their opponents on a week-to-week basis throughout the season.

The rankings are not based on a vote, but determined by considering a combination of results, strength of schedule, common opponents, momentum, and a variety of other factors.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY SUPER SEVEN (10/8/2012)

1. Lompoc Braves (6-0, 2-0)

PREVIOUS GAME:?Lompoc 42, Templeton 3

NEXT GAME:?at Santa Maria (1-5), Friday, 7 p.m.

NOTES: The Braves are ranked No. 28 in California and No. 13 in Southern California according to the L.A. Times. Lompoc just finished the most difficult portion of its Los Padres League schedule and has a clear path to another undefeated regular season.

2.?Dos Pueblos Chargers (5-2, 1-0)

PREVIOUS GAME: Dos Pueblos 54, San Marcos 0

NEXT GAME:?at Ventura (4-2), Friday, 7 p.m.

NOTES:?The Chargers began their Channel League season by gaining 487 yards on the ground in a blowout win of San Marcos.

3.?St. Joseph Knights (5-1, 3-0)

PREVIOUS GAME:??St. Joseph 38, Arroyo Grande 10

NEXT GAME:?vs. Paso Robles (4-2), Friday, 7 p.m.

NOTES: ?St. Joseph is on a roll. The Knights have won five straight after a season-opening loss to Santa Barbara High. ?They are all alone in first place in the Pac-7 League at 3-0.

4. Bishop Diego Cardinals (6-0, 1-0)

PREVIOUS GAME:?Bishop Diego 39,?Carpinteria 22

NEXT GAME:??vs. Santa Paula (4-2), at La Playa Stadium, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.

NOTES:??The Cardinals went to Carpinteria and scored a huge Tri-Valley League win. The result moves Bishop to a season high in these rankings. The Cardinals have scored 39 or more points in five of their six wins and the 22 points allowed was a season high for its defense.

5.?Santa Barbara Dons?(5-2, 0-1)

PREVIOUS GAME:?Buena 27, Santa Barbara 17

NEXT GAME:?Bye

NOTES:?Santa Barbara took one on the chin in its Channel League opener at Buena. After the bye, Santa Barbara closes out its season with league games against San Marcos, Ventura, then Dos Pueblos.

6.?Carpinteria Warriors (4-3, 0-1)

PREVIOUS GAME: Bishop Diego 39,?Carpinteria 22

NEXT GAME:?Bye

NOTES:?The Warriors had their 4-game winning streak snapped by rival Bishop Diego. The Cardinals jumped out to a big lead on the Warriors and never looked back.
