Royals play solid from start to finish in 15-7 win

Goalie Parker Woodward turned in an outstanding performance, recording 14 saves to lead the San Marcos boys water polo team to a 15-7 romp over Ventura on Thursday in a Channel League match.

“Parker played great in the goal allowing our defense to focus on certain guys,” said coach Jeff Ashton.

The offense was firing on all cylinders as seven different players scored goals. Spencer Kemp, Kameron Bebb and Emerson Pizzinat led the way with three goals apiece.

“We got contributions from guys across the board and were really paced offensively by the great play of Spencer Kemp,” Ashton said. “Our focus today was to really put four quarters of good water polo together and I thought we were able to do that.”

The win improved San Marcos to 15-5 overall and 3-3 in league.

“After so many overtime games this year in league it was really great to show what we are capable of,” said Ashton.
