Santa Barbara High’s Nate Hunter takes a shot during the second quarter of Saturday’s game
Michael Van Wickle scored his first goal of the season and then went on to score three more in Saturday’s 14-4 victory over visiting Esperanza?for Santa Barbara High’s boys water polo team.
The Dons led 6-0 after the first quarter and 10-3 at halftime.
Seven players scored for Santa Barbara with Van Wickle leading the way. Nate Hunter collected three goals while Skyler Matthews and Colin Fristoe punched in two each. Matthews added a team-high three steals on defense.
Santa Barbara moves on to a big week ahead. The Dons can close out an undefeated Channel League season with two wins but those wins are far from gimmes being at San Marcos and at Dos Pueblos.
