Carpinteria sweeps titles at Frontier League finals

Carpinteria won the singles and doubles titles at the Frontier League tennis finals on Thursday at Villanova.

In singles, Kelsie Bryant successfully defended her title by beating teammate Kassandra Ni 6-0, 6-0. The same two played in last year’s final.

The Warriors’ doubles team of Erin Saito and Lesly Zapata got a little revenge in the semifinals, beating Nordhoff’s Inga Parkel and Amanda Rhodes, 6-0, 6-2. They suffered their only loss of the season against the Rangers.

Carpinteria’s Natalie Saito and Cat Maldonado fell in the semifinals to Santa Paula’s Dominique Fuentes-Zionee Lee, 6-3, 6-0.

Erin Saito-Zapata defeated Fuentes-Lee in the final, 6-2, 6-2.

Natalie Saito-Maldonado won the third-place match over Nordhoff, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3.

Bryant and Ni and the championship doubles team will represent Carpinteria at the CIF Sectionals on Nov. 19.
