Ben O’Hara scored seven goals and goalie Jacob Pate stopped 11 shots, leading Carpinteria to a 17-6 win over visiting Nordhoff in a Tri-Valley League boys water polo match on Wednesday.
After a sluggish first period, the Warriors went on a 5-0 run in the second period to open up a 7-1 advantage.
“We started to move our offense in the second and created some breathing room,” said Carpinteria coach Bryan Swarm.
Nordhoff capitalized on some 6-on-5 situations and narrowed the gap in the third period. But the Warriors regained the momentum and finished the quarter with a flurry of goals.
Carpinteria evened its TVL record to 1-1 and improved to 9-6 overall. Nordhoff is 0-2, 0-4.
