Carpinteria had everything going its way and routed Cate 22-3 in a Tri-Valley League boys water polo match on Wednesday.
Ben O’Hara led the way for the Warriors with nine goals. Cole Gill added five and Alan Chavez three.
“It was one of those rare days that all of our offensive plays worked and our defensive effort matched our offensive output,” Carpinteria coach Bryan Swarm said. “Obviously, the score speaks for itself. However, just to put things in perspective, we only took 30 shots, that is a 73 percent shooting day. That’s about 30 percent higher than our best game this year.”
Goalie Jacob Pate paced the defensive effort, notching 11 saves.
“Jacob Pate had another phenomenal day in goal, which really gives us the confidence we need to take some chances on the defensive end of the pool to help us be more aggressive on the offensive end,” Swarm said.
Carpinteria improves to 11-6 overall and 3-1 in the TVL. Cate is 3-5, 0-4.
