Callaway, Handy lead Warriors to 7th league victory

Carpinteria’s girls volleyball team improved to 7-1 in Frontier League competition after a 25-19, 25-14, 23-25, 25-20 victory at Santa Paula on Tuesday.

Outside hitter Erin Callaway led the team in kills and aces with 9 and 10. Middle blocker Maddie Handy added eight kills and two blocks. Libero Kylie Augerot was the dig leader with 11 to go with three aces.

“The match was very up and down for the team,” reported Warriors head coach Katie Julian. “We had some great runs, but then gave up a bunch of points on bad serve receive and miscommunication errors. In the end we pulled it off, but we’re going to need to bump up our level of play for Thursday’s match against Nordhoff.”

The Warriors are 8-3 overall.
