Jenna Anderson had 10 kills and eight digs on Friday and Jasmine Ward added nine kills and an ace as SBCC opened WSC North play with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-15 women’s volleyball sweep at Ventura.

Emily Banas added seven kills and Ari Garner had 32 assists and three aces in the fourth straight win for the 21st-ranked Vaqueros (6-6, 1-0).

“Our passing was solid and our outsides stepped up,” said coach Ed Gover. “We got 26 kills from our pin hitters, which is excellent. It feels good to be back on track.“

An ace serve by Garner capped a 5-1 run to end the first set. The Vaqueros jumped ahead 8-3 and 10-3 in the second and third sets, respectively.
