San Marcos’ girls volleyball team started out with two wins at the San Luis Obispo Tournament before falling in the final match of the day to Camarillo.
The Royals topped Sunnyside 25-12, 25-21 and Santa Ynez 25-14, 25-20.
But after winning the first set against Camarillo 25-20, the Scorpions were able to turn it around and win the final two games 25-19, 25-13.
Nevertheless, Royals head coach Erica Downing called it “a great day” for her team, which finished second in its pool.
Anastasia Kunz drew praise for her solid passing and consistent play.
San Marcos begins tournament play on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
