Oak Park has too much firepower for Bishop

Oak Park’s strong outside hitting wore down Bishop Diego’s defense, and the Cardinals dropped a three-set match to the Eagles in a Tri-Valley League clash on Monday night. The scores were 25-17, 25-23, 25-21.

“We came out ready to play and started off strong,” Bishop assistant John Sener said. “Oak Park played consistent and had two good swings from the outside and opposite. They wore down our block and our passing was not crisp enough to get good sets.”

Talia Van Wingeerden had six kills and eight digs, and Lauren Underwood had four kills and 10 digs for the Cardinals (1-3, 0-3).

Sener said middle blockers Emily Lash and Annelise Morando were very active.

“They made them work for every kill. it was great to see our girls battle through every set. We are learning to play together as a team and work hard for 25 points. The successes will come once we can make that key pass or serve in tight situations,” said Sener.
