Goals start flowing for SBCC men’s soccer

Dan Flitcroft and Adam Colton scored goals in the first eight minutes on Friday afternoon and SBCC went on to beat Citrus 3-1 in a WSC men’s soccer match at Glendora.

Jamie Sporcic assisted on the first two goals, which came in the second and eighth minutes. Flitcroft hit a perfectly timed shot to the back right post and Colton scored from 40 yards out with a shot over the keeper’s head.

SBCC (4-5-1, 2-3-1) had just two goals in its previous five games. The three goals tied their season high, set in the Aug. 28 opener at L.A. Harbor.

Ismael Guzman made seven saves for the Vaqueros.

The Owls (2-6-2, 1-3-1) cut the deficit to 2-1 with a goal in the first minute of the second half. Kian Chachi gave the Vaqueros an insurance goal in the 65th minute on an assist by Brayden Jeworski.

“Overall, it was a good performance,” said coach John Sisterson. “We moved the ball well. Kian looked good in his first game at center forward and George Wakefield was outstanding at left back.”

The Vaqueros travel to Santa Monica on Tuesday.
