San Marcos was 20 strokes better than Orcutt Academy on Tuesday as Melissa Jewkes’ round of 49 carried the Royals in the non-league match at Rancho Maria.
San Marcos won 259-279. The same two teams meet again in Santa Barbara on Thursday.
After Jewkes, Kelsey Gellert carded a 50 and Emily Peterson a 51. Gellert’s score and a 53 from Remi Ho were season-lows for the pair. Brittany Peretiako’s 56 kept San Marcos’ five scores close together.
“We played really well as a team and every member contributed to our victory,” said Royals coach Shawn Ricci.
San Marcos is 2-4 on the season.
