Bryan Fernandez of Dos Pueblos is the pre-race favorite at the Nike Pre-Nationals Cross Country Meet on Saturday in Portland, Ore.
The race is considered one of the premier cross country meets on the West Coast, drawing more than 100 teams and 3,000 athletes.
Fernandez, who recently won the three-mile Sweepstakes Race at the Woodbridge Invitational in 14 minutes, 19 seconds, is ranked 25th in the nation by MileSplit.US. He will be challenged by Oregon 6A state champion Kyle Thompson and Idaho 4A state champion Elijah Armstrong.
