Santa Barbara High is hosting the second annual Santa Barbara Invitational boys water polo tournament on the weekend of September 14 and 15.
Mater Dei, Loyola, Sacred Heart and Agoura received top seeds in the 16-team tournament. Mater Dei is the Southern Section’s defending Division-1 champion and currently ranked No. 1 in Orange County according to the OC Register.
The Monarchs also won the first Santa Barbara Invitational last year.
The host Dons will play in Group C with Sacred Heart, St. Francis and Vista.
Dos Pueblos is playing in Group B with Loyola, Miramonte and Laguna Beach.
Group-play games begin at Noon on Friday with matches happening at both Santa Barbara High and Dos Pueblos. The championship match is scheduled for 2:25 p.m. on Saturday at Santa Barbara High.
