Mater Dei, Loyola, Sacred Heart and Agoura defended their top seeds on Friday and emerged from group play at the Santa Barbara Invitiational boys water polo tournament.

Mater Dei, the defending champion of this tournament, added wins 50 and 51 to its record win streak.
For the host schools, Santa Barbara High split its matches while Dos Pueblos dropped both games it played. The Dons defeated St. Francis 12-11 in their tournament opener before dropping a 9-7 decision to Sacred Heart. Dos Pueblos lost 12-7 to Loyola followed by a 10-7 setback to Laguna Beach.
The Dons can still place 5th with two wins on Saturday while the Chargers are in the 13th place bracket.
Evan Robertson, Nate Hunter and Cristian Bridley led Santa Barbara with five goals each on the day. Hunter’s three goals in the match with Sacred Heart all came in a third-quarter comeback that saw the Dons cut a five-goal deficit to two. Sacred Heart did just enough to hold on for victory.
For Dos Pueblos, Grant Schroeder led the Chargers with four goals scored in each of their two losses. DP plays at 10:10 a.m. at home on Saturday.
Santa Barbara faces Miramonte in its first match on Saturday at 11:10 a.m. at Santa Barbara High.
