Bishop Diego’s high-scoring assault on their 2012 schedule continued on Saturday at SBCC’s La Play Stadium, as the Cardinals dominated Santa Clara 53-7.

The Cardinals offense has scored over 50 points in three of the four games played and is averaging just over 51 points per game.

Sophomore running back Abel Gonzalez totaled 108 yards on just eight carries. Two of those carries were touchdown runs, the first a 1-yard plunge with 9:46 left in the first quarter. Half-way through the second period, Gonzalez took the ball 53 yards to the endzone.

Anthony Carter also scored a pair of touchdowns and had a third called back because of a holding penalty on a 58-yard interception return in the first quarter.

In the second half, Walter Hernandez broke off a 66-yard rushing TD and Adrian Solis scored on a 1-yard play.

One of Bishop Diego’s touchdowns came on a throw as Gabe Molina found BJ Murillo wide open behind the secondary on his way running in the 55-yard scoring play.

The Cardinals (4-0) head into their bye week. The Cardinals next play on Friday, September 28 against Sante Fe Christian at La Playa.
