Soccer America makes UCSB’s Acoff a Preseason All-American

Senior forward Dion Acoff has been named a Preseason All-American by Soccer America it was announced on Friday morning. Additionally, three Gauchos have been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 100 Upperclassmen list.

Acoff was one of 25 players honored by Soccer America. The transfer from Creighton is a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference pick and was a 2010 NSCAA All-Midwest Region selection.

On the TopDrawerSoccer.com Preseason Top-100 list, Machael David is No. 6 on the list, Fifi Baiden is No. 15, Dom Sarle is No. 30 and Peter McGlynn is listed at No. 98. For the complete list, click here.

TopDrawerSoccer.com also ranked the top-20 players in each conference and six of its Big West selections were Gauchos, including the top-three. David, Baiden and Sarle make up the top-three, respectively. McGlynn is sixth, Acoff is seventh and Achille Campion is No. 14. To view the complete list, click here.

UCSB will officially open the 2012 season on Sunday, Aug. 26 at Loyola Marymount. The Gauchos will return home on Sept. 7 to host Valparaiso at 7:30 p.m. at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.
