Tuesday’s reported shark attack at East Beach set Wednesday’s Nite Moves on land as the 1k ocean swim and aquathon were cancelled.

John Lofthus finished first overall in the 5k run with a time of 16 minutes and 38 seconds. Following behind him was Charlie Gardner, 17:57, and Ricky Ho, 17:58.

Anna Harleen was the first woman to finish, coming in at 19:16. Harleen was able to place herself first in the women’s best times of the season. Placing second and third were Leslie Roth who finished with a time of 20:46 and Alexa Schloh, 21:16.

The women’s previous season’s best was 19:22 set by Erin Campbell on June 20.

The shark attack on a sea lion led the city of Santa Barbara to post warning signs for 72 hours which led Nite Moves to continue on without the swimming portions of the race.
