SB Pony all-stars make regional final

The Santa Barbara Pony all-stars are managed by John Jensen and assisted by Jeff Spach and Lynn True. The team consists of: Nick Dallow, Jack Deardorff, Jackson Hamilton, Canaan Hebert, Zach Jensen, Henry Kish, Parker Matson, Chase Mayer, Jose Navarro, Travis Pierce, Dominic Roderick, Toby Spach and Derek True.

The Santa Barbara Pony 11u All-Star team was in Bakersfield last weekend to participate in the North Region?Sectional Finals.

The Pony All-Stars were matched against host team Bakersfield in their first game. The score was tied at 1-1 when?Santa Barbara erupted for 7 runs in the 2nd inning to take an 8-1 lead. Santa Barbara added 7 more runs to win?by way of the 10 run mercy rule 15-5. Toby Spach, Domonic Roderick, Jackson Hamilton and Travis Pierce all had?multiple hits in the game. Domonic Roderick pitched 3 innings to earn the win.

Santa Barbara drew the notoriously tough Hart all-stars for their second game. Santa Barbara wasted little time by?scoring 3 runs in the 1st and 8 runs in the 2nd to jump out to an 11 ? 0 lead. The Pony all-stars added 5 more runs?for a 16-2 mercy rule win. Nick Dallow and Derek True both had a couple of hits. Jose Navarro and Chase Mayer?combined to scatter 6 hits and allow only 2 runs.

Santa Barbara earned the #1 seed and a rematch with Bakersfield heading into the single elimination round.

Domonic Roderick took the mound and pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing only 2 hits and 1 earned run. Zach Jensen?led the offensive attack by going 3-4 with 2 singles, a double and 1 rbi. Deardorff, Roderick and Hamilton each had?2 hits apiece.

The win put the Pony all-stars in the Championship game against the #2 seed Toluca Lake all-stars. Toluca proved?to be too much for Santa Barbara and earned the tournament victory.

Santa Barbara played exceptional defense all weekend led by Zach Jensen at SS and Toby Spach behind the plate.

The Pony 11?s earned the right to move on to the Regional finals this weekend in Camarillo.
