Kelley solid both ways in DPLL victory

Dylan Kelley got the job done for Dos Pueblos Little League’s 11/12 All-Stars on Thursday, belting a home run and driving in four runs while earning the victory on the mound for DP in an 18-5 decision against Santa Paula.

It was the first game of the double-elimination portion of the District 63 Tournament.

Kelley was 3-for-3 in the game and pitched the third, fourth and fifth innings to pick up the victory. It was the first time in five games that DP has played more than four innings. Jake McBride and Will Goodwin also pitched in the victory.

The game was tied 3-3 after three innings. But Dos Pueblos took control with five runs in the top of the fifth, followed by eight more in the top of the sixth. When it was all said and done, DP totaled 20 hits and 18 runs.

Nick Baker was 4-for-5 at the plate with four runs scored. Jake Yamasaki’s three hits resulted in three RBIs. Davey Demeter and Zach Wright added two hits each.

DPLL plays its next game on Saturday at 11 am at Girsh Park.
