Coudray makes first Olympics for Eventing

Adding to the list of locally-connected athletes to follow at this year’s London Olympics, Santa Barbara native Tiana Coudray was named to the USA Olympic Eventing Team in early July.

Coudray was born in Santa Barbara to parents Ellen and John, then moved to Ojai when she was in the third grade. Now 23 years old, Coudray has been living and training in England for the past year.

Eventing is often referred to as the triathlon of Equestrian sports because it includes multiple disciplines spread over three days of competition.

Following high school and before England, Coudray spent most of her time traveling around the United States for competition.

Coudray, one of five rider-horse partnerships on the American team, will be riding a horse named Ringwood Magister.

The Olympic Eventing competition begins on Saturday with dressage.
