Stanford sophomore and Santa Barbara High graduate Oliver Toole earned All-American honors.

Santa Barbara?s Oliver Toole added the honor of collegiate All-American to his list of sailing accomplishments.

Toole, a Santa Barbara High graduate and a sophomore at Stanford, was named an All-American skipper following the national championships last week in Austin, Texas. He?s one of four honorees for the Cardinal ? Kevin Laube, Kelly Ortel and Sally Mace are the others.

Toole helped Stanford win an unprecedented six Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Championships during the fall and spring. The Cardinal were one of six teams to compete at all three national championships. In Austin, they finished eighth in coed and team racing and placed 13th in women?s racing.

Toole and Haley Kirk, sailing in the B Division in Austin, posted top-nine finishes in seven coed races for 97 points.

Toole skippered his boat to the B Division coed title at the PCCSC Championships in Santa Barbara, taking five of six races.

At the National Semifinals in Annapolis Md., Toole and Kirk helped Stanford finish a program-best third place to secure a berth into the national championships.
