McCarthy’s strong start suits Foresters

Ian McCarthy led the Santa Barbara Foresters to their second straight victory on Thursday in a 7-2 decision over MLB Academy.

McCarthy’s five scoreless innings included seven strikeouts and only three hits allowed.

At the plate, Santa Barbara scored five runs in the second inning to give McCarthy all the run support he would need.

The Foresters were playing without Richard Sanguinetti, who suffered a sprained ankle on Wednesday and will be out for a handful of games.

Santa Barbara improves to 2-1 in CCL play while the Barons drop to 1-2. The Foresters now return home for a six-game homestand starting Friday.
