The Goleta Valley South 13/14 All-Star team was able to bring home a win in its first game of the All-Star tournament against Saticoy on Monday 8-2.
A strong defense was the key to Goleta Valley’s success. Centerfielder David McCarthy, third baseman Josh Feldhaus and catcher Sebastian Elizondo helped lead the 13/14 team to victory.
McCarthy’s aggressive outfield play, tracking fly balls and making double plays coupled with Feldhaus’ impressive third base play and Elizondo’s ability to call the pitches brought Goleta Valley the win.
Along with the strong defense, Goleta Valley was able to pull out a strong offense. Nine out of ten batters were able to reach base safely to shut out Saticoy.
The next game is Saturday, June 30 against Ojai Valley at Page Youth Center.
