Foresters tripped up in season-opening series

Cody Lenahan continued tormenting the Santa Barbara Foresters on Sunday, belting a home run to help his visiting San Diego Waves win 2-of-3 games from the Foresters following a 5-2 decision in the series finale.

Lenahan finished 5-for-11 at the plate in the three-game series and recorded an RBI in each game. In Sunday’s rubber-game, Lenahan connected for a solo home run while reaching base four times and scoring two runs.

Steven Reveles went 1-for-5 for Santa Barbara to extend his season-opening hit streak to three games. Reveles has started the season 6-for-12.

Kevin Cannon’s solo home run in the second inning was the only blemish on David Johnson, San Diego’s starting pitcher, in four innings of work. Adam Estermeyer and Thomas Reilly combined for five innings of one-run relief for San Diego.

Brandon Pierce gave up three earned runs in five innings for Santa Barbara. Pierce was able strike out seven batters and did not allow a run after the Waves scored three in the top of the first.
