Campi, Wilcox hit Santa Clara hard

Carmen Campi recorded three hits and Dakotah Wilcox connected for a home run in Thursday’s 5-1 victory for Carpinteria over Santa Clara.

The victory makes Carpinteria 8-0 in the Frontier League with two games remaining. The Warriors can clinch a second-straight league title with a win on Tuesday at Santa Paula.

The Warriors scored three times in the first inning and the defense made a pair of nice plays in the top half of the frame.

“That showed we were focus and ready to play,” Gonzalez said. “We started well and we finished well. Offensively and defensively.”

Campi was 3-for-4 in the game with three RBI and two runs scored. Wilcox smashed her home run in the fifth inning with nobody on base.
