Warriors taken down by Titans

The Carpinteria High baseball team traveled to Nipomo and came up short in a 6-3 loss on Saturday.

Colton Rubio started the game for the Warrior and went four innings. He struck out five batters, but gave up four hits and two earned runs.

Marcus Hutchinson came in for the sixth and seventh innings and also pitched well. He allowed just one hits and no earned runs while recording three strikeouts.

At the plate, Derrick Moore and Diego Martinez each had two hits and an RBI.

Several miscues, including three costly errors, proved to be the difference in the game.

“Overall, we affirmed the things we are good at and improved on our areas of focus,” head coach Pat Cooney said. “Hopefully, this game against a good opponent will help us to play with confidence in league play.”

Carpinteria (6-6) will continue its season on Wednesday at Nordhoff.
