Warriors survive shaky first round

Carpinteria’s boys tennis team captured a 14-4 victory over St. Bonaventure on Thursday to remain undefeated in league play at 7-0.

“We had gutsy performances from Cole Menegon and Justin Nathanson in singles and from Jonathon Cleek/Collin Nathanson in doubles,” noted Warriors head coach Charles Bryant.

Carpinteria won several close sets in the first round to go up 4-2. Bryant thought the Seraphs just as easily could have been up 5-1 themselves.

Cleek and Nathanson finished 3-0 on the day as did the doubles tandem of David Harms/Matt Jansen.

The Warriors are three matches away from an undefeated league season.
