Stoll, Morton keep Dons in front of Chargers

Santa Barbara High’s Ryan Stoll shared medalist honors on Monday with teammate James Morton, as each carded even-par rounds at Glen Annie Golf Club in a 369-379 Channel League win over Dos Pueblos.

Don’s Coach James Bedard said they knew the match would be close and that every shot would count.

“Our depth has been the strength of our team all season and having Ryan and James come in with even par scores really helps our team score,” he said. “The boys played great and they have improved all season long.”

Carson Curtis held the lowest score for the Chargers, with teammate Lane Fuller trailing one stroke behind. All of the Chargers’ five scorers carded rounds of 77 or less.

The win clinches the outright Channel League title for the Dons, who will finish their regular season on Thursday at Ventura. Dos Pueblos will finish their regular season at home against Buena on Wednesday with a chance to clinch a spot in the playoffs.
