Shutout streak continues for Maldonado

Catalina Maldonao pitched her sixth consecutive shutout to lead the Carpinteria softball team to a 10-0 win over Villanova on Tuesday.

The Frontier League matchup was called after six innings due to the mercy rule, and the Warriors have still not allowed a run in a league game this season.

Maldonado helped her own cause by recording both a double and triple, while Tatiana Verdugo and Jessica Macias also went for extra bases.

“We hit the ball well again,” head coach Henry Gonzales said. “We’ve been doing that in our last six, seven games.”

Carpinteria (11-5 overall, 5-0 FL) will play next tomorrow at Hueneme, pending weather.
