Locke leaving UCSB basketball post for Central Florida

Courtney Locke spent one year with the UCSB women's basketball program.

UC Santa Barbara women’s basketball assistant coach Courtney Locke has accepted a coaching position at the University of Central Florida, head coach Carlene Mitchell announced on Monday.

Locke, who had helped the Gauchos to the 2012 Big West Tournament title in her first season in Santa Barbara – the Gauchos’ 14th, which is easily the most in the conference – returns to UCF where she had worked in the three previous seasons before joining UCSB’s staff.

“Courtney was a big part of our success this past season and we are sorry to see her leave,” Mitchell said. “We wish her the best at UCF and in the remainder of her career.”

A nationwide search for a new member of Mitchell’s staff will begin immediately.
